Join us on Saturday September 19 from 5-7pm for the season finale of Perth Amboy Artworks online music series featuring Segunda Quimbamba, the celebrated dance and drum ensemble that perform authentic bomba and plena, the vibrant drum music of Puerto Rico!! Segunda Quimbamba is directed by Juan Cartagena who is recognized as a Master Folk Artist by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. The band has been doing this show for the past 3 years and this is always the biggest show of the year! Though we cannot gather together this year, we can still get together online and be inspired by Segunda Quimbamba! Watch them live online on the Perth Amboy Artworks Facebook page. We are excited to announce our second Stay Home Fest on Saturday August 8 from 5pm-7:30pm. Perth Amboy Artworks Stay Home Fest #2 will feature 7 artists performing live on the Perth Amboy Artworks facebook page. Featured artists include Proper (Folk), Deivito (Spanglish Sea Shanties), Minio Class (Modern and Latin Jazz), Carlos & Cindy (Rock, Salsa, Soul), Miski Dee Rodriguez (Latinx Power Pop Punk), Jekssaira (Latinx Crooner)
Proper –From Perth Amboy, NJ. Proper is an original indie singer-songwriter who plays eclectic folk music. His songs showcase distinct elements of Afro beat, rock, salsa and orchestral arrangement.
Deivito– From Newark, NJ. Deivito plays an ocean’s bounty of original Spanglish Sea Shanties including pirate ballads, dirges, sea shanties, and ancient marinated guarachas. A bilingual gumbo derived from traditional folkloric sounds of the North-Central-Carribean-South Americas, the sonic fare exemplifies a vibrant dance of the Old World and New.
Minio Class– From Jersey City, NJ. Minio is a pianist and composer who will be performing Latin and Modern Jazz, with a touch of impressionism. Minio has done piano and keyboard work on many songs and has contributed to remixes for a long list of award-winning artists including: Mary J. Blige, Enrique Iglesias, J Lo, Diddy, Diana Ross, Macy Gray, Sneaker Pimps, Café Del Sol and Alex Alicea.
Carlos & Cindy From Jersey City, NJ. (United States of Boogaloo) The duet will play Spanish-English grooves cooked up from the sonic styling’s of Boogaloo, Punk, Salsa, Rockabilly, Samba, and Puerto Rican Bomba y Plena music.
Miski Dee Rodriguez– From Riverside, CA (City Mouse) Latinx Power Pop Punk. Miski will be playing soulful punk rock in English and Spanish.
Jekssaira – Queens, NY. Latinx Crooner. Queer original singer/songwriter influenced by 50’s music. Jekssaira will be playing original songs in English and Spanish.
